Celestron Smart DewHeater and Controller 2X – Efficient, Intelligent Dew Prevention for Compact Astronomy Setups

Protect your optics, preserve your power, and simplify your setup with the Celestron Smart DewHeater and Controller 2X. Designed to intelligently control dew prevention for smaller or minimalist astronomy rigs, this dual-port controller uses real-time environmental data to deliver just the right amount of heat—keeping your optics clear while extending battery life.

Whether you’re imaging, observing, or both, this smart solution helps you stay focused on the sky—not your equipment.

Advanced Dew Control with Smart Automation

Dew can quickly ruin a night of stargazing or astrophotography. The Smart DewHeater and Controller 2X uses a built-in microprocessor to continuously:

  • Monitor ambient temperature and humidity

  • Track heater temperature using built-in or external thermistors

  • Automatically adjust power output for optimal dew prevention

This allows your dew heaters to work only when needed, minimising energy usage and eliminating guesswork.

Dual Heater Ports for Flexible Applications

With two independent dew heater ports, the controller lets you protect:

  • Your main optical tube

  • An additional OTA, guide scope, eyepiece, or accessory

It’s fully compatible with:

  • Celestron Dew Heater Rings (with integrated thermistors)

  • Third-party heating bands or straps (with optional Celestron Thermistors, sold separately)

Perfect for small to medium-sized telescope setups, this compact controller delivers professional-grade performance in a simplified form factor.

Integrated Power Management

Beyond dew control, the controller includes a dedicated 12V DC output port, letting you power another accessory—such as:

  • Your telescope mount

  • An autofocuser, camera, or filter wheel

This allows you to power your entire setup from a single 12V DC source, such as the Celestron PowerTank Lithium Pro or PowerTank 17.

Power Tip: If you’re running two dew heaters and a 12V device under heavy dew conditions, total power draw may approach the 10A (120W) limit. For longer sessions, consider using a higher-capacity battery or multiple power sources.

Seamless Control & Monitoring Options

The Smart DewHeater and Controller 2X can be used as a fully automatic standalone unit, or you can connect it to your:

  • NexStar+ or StarSense hand control (latest firmware required)

  • PC via Celestron CPWI software

When connected, you can manually adjust heater settings, monitor system status, and toggle power ports—giving you total control from your telescope or computer.

Rugged Design with Built-in Intelligence

Built to handle real-world observing conditions, the controller features:

  • A durable metal housing with integrated cooling fan

  • Celestron’s signature Bridge design, which:

    • Houses temperature and humidity sensors

    • Helps manage cables

    • Keeps sensors thermally isolated from heat sources for accurate readings

No need for extra sensor cables—unlike competing products. Plus, dimmable status LEDs provide instant feedback on system performance, battery status, and power usage without impacting your night vision.

Flexible Mounting Options

Mount the controller directly to your telescope using the CGE or CG-5 dovetail clamps, or use the included tripod leg strap for secure and convenient mounting. Ideal for both permanent and portable setups.

What’s Included:

  • Smart DewHeater and Controller 2X

  • Tripod leg mounting strap

  • 12V DC controller power cable

  • 12V power cable for external device

  • AUX cable (for connection to Celestron mounts)

  • Thermistor extension cable (for use with Celestron Dew Heater Rings)

Recommended Accessories

To enhance performance, we recommend:

  • Celestron Dew Heater Rings – provide precision heat and built-in temperature monitoring

  • Celestron Thermistor (sold separately) – required for third-party heating bands

  • Dew shield – improves dew protection while reducing heater power demand

  • High-capacity battery pack – ensures uninterrupted operation during long sessions

Key Features:

  • Controls two dew heaters with intelligent, real-time adjustments

  • 12V DC output port powers additional telescope accessories

  • Works with Celestron and third-party dew heaters

  • Compatible with CPWI software and Celestron hand controls

  • Integrated sensors and resettable electronic fuses for safe, smart operation

  • Heavy-duty construction with cooling fan and smart LED indicators

  • Flexible mounting: dovetail clamps or tripod strap

Compact. Efficient. Smart.

The Celestron Smart DewHeater and Controller 2X is the ideal solution for astronomers who want professional-grade dew control in a compact, easy-to-use form. It delivers everything you need for clear optics and efficient power management—whether you're at a dark-sky site, your backyard, or on the move.

Order now and experience smarter dew prevention, longer observing sessions, and clearer skies.

Order Fulfilment

Some items, as clearly stated on the product page, may be fulfilled directly by our partners or manufacturers. In these cases, your order will be shipped to you straight from the brand’s warehouse. This helps us provide a wider range of specialist equipment and may result in slightly different delivery times.

Returns Policy

If something isn’t right, we’ll always try to help.

  • Unused items in “as new” condition can usually be returned within the statutory cooling-off period
  • Please contact us before sending anything back so we can advise on the safest way
  • For unwanted items, return shipping is your responsibility, and original shipping may be deducted where applicable
  • If a product is faulty or damaged, we’ll arrange repair, replacement or refund in line with your consumer rights — and we’ll cover reasonable return costs

Telescope shipping is expensive, and specialist — avoidable returns really do impact our business, so we always encourage customers to ask questions before buying. We’re here to help you get it right first time.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

Does it come with a warranty?

All our products are UK stock so come with manufacturers warranty

What happens if I don't like it?

We always want you to be happy with your purchase — so if you’re unsure, please ask us first. We’re always happy to give honest advice before you buy.

If the product arrives and you simply decide it isn’t for you, you can usually return it within the cooling-off period — as long as it’s unused, in perfect condition, and returned with all original packaging and accessories.

Because telescopes and optical equipment are large, delicate and expensive to ship, you’ll need to cover the cost of sending it back, and if we originally subsidised delivery, we may deduct our outbound shipping costs from your refund.

We’re a small specialist business, and unnecessary returns genuinely hurt us — so if you’re unsure at all, please talk to us first. We’d rather help you choose the right item than process a return.

How fast is shipping?

We aim to ship in-stock items as quickly as possible.

  • Most in-stock orders dispatch within 1–2 working days
  • Delivery usually takes 1–3 working days after dispatch (UK mainland)
  • Heavier / oversized items and special orders may take a little longer

You’ll receive tracking details as soon as your order is on its way.

Astronomy equipment often requires specialist packing and trusted couriers — we do this to keep your gear safe, not to slow things down. If you need something urgently, just ask and we’ll do our best.
