Celestron Thermistor for Smart DewHeater Controllers – Precision Dew Control for Third-Party Heating Bands

Maximise efficiency and extend battery life by adding the Celestron Thermistor to your dew control setup. Designed for use with the Celestron Smart DewHeater Controller (sold separately), this sensor takes the guesswork out of using third-party heating bands or dew straps, helping you maintain clear optics without overdriving your heater and draining your power supply.

Whether you’re observing in high humidity or setting up for an all-night astrophotography session, this thermistor helps your dew control system work smarter, not harder.

Prevent Dew. Save Power. Simplify Setup.

When paired with a third-party heating band, the Celestron Thermistor lets your Smart DewHeater Controller:

  • Measure the temperature of your telescope’s corrector plate

  • Automatically adjust heat output to the minimum required level

  • Prevent dew from forming without wasting energy

  • Protect battery power during long observing sessions

This sensor ensures your dew heater runs only when needed and at just the right temperature, extending battery life and enhancing thermal efficiency—especially valuable at remote or off-grid sites.

Easy Integration with Your Smart DewHeater System

The thermistor is quick and easy to use:

  1. Attach your third-party dew heater band around the corrector plate or optical tube.

  2. Slide the thermistor’s sealed probe tip under the band, making direct contact with the telescope surface.

  3. Plug the thermistor and heater band into their matching ports on the Smart DewHeater Controller.

With a 6-foot cable, the thermistor offers plenty of length for flexible mounting options, accommodating refractors, SCTs, and Newtonians alike.

When Do You Need the Celestron Thermistor?

You only need this thermistor if you are:

  • Using third-party heating bands with your Celestron Smart DewHeater Controller

  • Looking to improve power efficiency and enable temperature-controlled operation

Note: You do not need this accessory when using Celestron Dew Heater Rings, as they already contain a built-in thermistor for automated temperature regulation.

Enhance Performance with a Dew Shield

While optional, adding a dew shield to your telescope further enhances dew prevention by reducing exposure to ambient moisture. It also reduces the workload on your heating band, helping you conserve even more power during your sessions.

Key Features:

  • Enables automatic temperature regulation for third-party dew heater bands

  • Designed for use with the Celestron Smart DewHeater Controller

  • Prevents dew while conserving battery life

  • Simple installation – sealed tip slides under heating band

  • Long 6’ cable for easy integration with any telescope configuration

  • Not required with Celestron Dew Heater Rings

Smarter Dew Control for Serious Observers

Whether you’re imaging through the night or hosting an outreach event, keeping your optics clear of dew is essential. The Celestron Thermistor helps your Smart DewHeater Controller run at peak efficiency—even with third-party accessories—so you can focus on the stars, not the fog.

Order now and bring intelligent temperature control to your dew management setup.

Order Fulfilment

Some items, as clearly stated on the product page, may be fulfilled directly by our partners or manufacturers. In these cases, your order will be shipped to you straight from the brand’s warehouse. This helps us provide a wider range of specialist equipment and may result in slightly different delivery times.

Returns Policy

If something isn’t right, we’ll always try to help.

  • Unused items in “as new” condition can usually be returned within the statutory cooling-off period
  • Please contact us before sending anything back so we can advise on the safest way
  • For unwanted items, return shipping is your responsibility, and original shipping may be deducted where applicable
  • If a product is faulty or damaged, we’ll arrange repair, replacement or refund in line with your consumer rights — and we’ll cover reasonable return costs

Telescope shipping is expensive, and specialist — avoidable returns really do impact our business, so we always encourage customers to ask questions before buying. We’re here to help you get it right first time.

What happens if I don't like it?

We always want you to be happy with your purchase — so if you’re unsure, please ask us first. We’re always happy to give honest advice before you buy.

If the product arrives and you simply decide it isn’t for you, you can usually return it within the cooling-off period — as long as it’s unused, in perfect condition, and returned with all original packaging and accessories.

Because telescopes and optical equipment are large, delicate and expensive to ship, you’ll need to cover the cost of sending it back, and if we originally subsidised delivery, we may deduct our outbound shipping costs from your refund.

We’re a small specialist business, and unnecessary returns genuinely hurt us — so if you’re unsure at all, please talk to us first. We’d rather help you choose the right item than process a return.

How fast is shipping?

We aim to ship in-stock items as quickly as possible.

  • Most in-stock orders dispatch within 1–2 working days
  • Delivery usually takes 1–3 working days after dispatch (UK mainland)
  • Heavier / oversized items and special orders may take a little longer

You’ll receive tracking details as soon as your order is on its way.

Astronomy equipment often requires specialist packing and trusted couriers — we do this to keep your gear safe, not to slow things down. If you need something urgently, just ask and we’ll do our best.
