Celestron X-Cel LX 2.3mm Eyepiece – 1.25"

Extreme High-Power Eyepiece for Planetary and Lunar Observing

Designed for telescopes with longer focal lengths, the Celestron X-Cel LX 2.3mm eyepiece delivers extremely high magnification for advanced planetary, lunar, and double star observations. As the shortest focal length in the X-Cel LX line, it’s ideal for those pushing their equipment to the limits under excellent seeing conditions.

Precision Optics for Detail-Rich Viewing

  • 2.3mm Focal Length – Super High Magnification
Ideal for scrutinising fine surface detail on the Moon, observing planetary features like Saturn’s ring structure or Mars' polar caps, and splitting tight double stars.

  • Premium Six-Element Optical Design
Delivers flat, sharp views with excellent edge-to-edge clarity and minimal distortion, even at this extreme magnification level.

  • Fully Multi-Coated Glass Elements
Enhance light transmission while reducing internal reflections for bright, contrast-rich images.

  • Blackened Lens Edges
Help suppress stray light and improve overall image contrast—a key factor at high magnification.

Comfortable and Durable Design

  • 60° Apparent Field of View
Offers a more expansive viewing experience compared to many high-power Plössl eyepieces, making it easier to track targets at high magnification.

  • 16mm Eye Relief
Unusually long for a short focal length eyepiece—provides a comfortable view even for eyeglass wearers.

  • Twist-Up Eyecup
Adjust the viewing height for your personal comfort. Keep it down when wearing glasses, or twist it up for direct viewing.

  • Knurled Rubber Grip
Ensures secure handling, even in cold or damp conditions.

Built for Compatibility and Performance

  • 1.25” Standard Barrel
Compatible with all 1.25” star diagonals and focusers.

  • Filter Ready
The barrel is threaded to accept standard 1.25” filters—such as colour, Moon, or planetary filters—for enhanced image customisation.

  • Parfocal Design within the X-Cel LX Series
Allows seamless switching between X-Cel LX eyepieces with minimal need to refocus.

Best Suited For:

  • Observers using long focal length telescopes (e.g., SCTs, Maksutovs)

  • High-magnification lunar and planetary detail

  • Experienced users under stable atmospheric conditions

  • Telescopes with sturdy tracking or GoTo systems

The Celestron X-Cel LX 2.3mm Eyepiece is an excellent choice for astronomers who demand high performance in extreme magnification scenarios. With sharp, high-contrast views and a surprisingly comfortable viewing experience, it’s the ideal tool for pushing your telescope’s optical limits.

Order Fulfilment

Some items, as clearly stated on the product page, may be fulfilled directly by our partners or manufacturers. In these cases, your order will be shipped to you straight from the brand’s warehouse. This helps us provide a wider range of specialist equipment and may result in slightly different delivery times.

Returns Policy

If something isn’t right, we’ll always try to help.

  • Unused items in “as new” condition can usually be returned within the statutory cooling-off period
  • Please contact us before sending anything back so we can advise on the safest way
  • For unwanted items, return shipping is your responsibility, and original shipping may be deducted where applicable
  • If a product is faulty or damaged, we’ll arrange repair, replacement or refund in line with your consumer rights — and we’ll cover reasonable return costs

Telescope shipping is expensive, and specialist — avoidable returns really do impact our business, so we always encourage customers to ask questions before buying. We’re here to help you get it right first time.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

Does it come with a warranty?

All our products are UK stock so come with manufacturers warranty

What happens if I don't like it?

We always want you to be happy with your purchase — so if you’re unsure, please ask us first. We’re always happy to give honest advice before you buy.

If the product arrives and you simply decide it isn’t for you, you can usually return it within the cooling-off period — as long as it’s unused, in perfect condition, and returned with all original packaging and accessories.

Because telescopes and optical equipment are large, delicate and expensive to ship, you’ll need to cover the cost of sending it back, and if we originally subsidised delivery, we may deduct our outbound shipping costs from your refund.

We’re a small specialist business, and unnecessary returns genuinely hurt us — so if you’re unsure at all, please talk to us first. We’d rather help you choose the right item than process a return.

How fast is shipping?

We aim to ship in-stock items as quickly as possible.

  • Most in-stock orders dispatch within 1–2 working days
  • Delivery usually takes 1–3 working days after dispatch (UK mainland)
  • Heavier / oversized items and special orders may take a little longer

You’ll receive tracking details as soon as your order is on its way.

Astronomy equipment often requires specialist packing and trusted couriers — we do this to keep your gear safe, not to slow things down. If you need something urgently, just ask and we’ll do our best.
