Pulsar Axion 2 XG35 LRF Thermal Monocular

Compact thermal imaging with built-in laser rangefinder

The Axion 2 XG35 LRF is a powerful, pocket-sized thermal monocular engineered for serious observation in total darkness and challenging weather. Designed by Pulsar, it combines a high-resolution XG thermal sensor, fast f/1.0 optics, precision laser rangefinding, and advanced image processing — all housed in a rugged, waterproof magnesium body.

Whether you’re scanning wide areas or identifying distant targets, the Axion 2 XG35 LRF delivers crisp thermal detail, reliable distance measurement, and intuitive operation in a truly portable format.

Highly Sensitive 640×480 Thermal Sensor

At the heart of the Axion 2 XG35 LRF is a 640×480, 12 µm thermal sensor with NETD <40 mK, paired with a smooth 50 Hz refresh rate. This combination provides excellent thermal contrast and fine detail, even in fog, rain, or high humidity.

  • Detection range up to 1750 m (based on a 1.8 m object)

  • Clear target separation in adverse conditions

  • Excellent sensitivity for subtle heat differences

Fast 35mm f/1.0 Germanium Lens

The focusable 35mm f/1.0 germanium objective offers high infrared transmission in the LWIR range, delivering consistently sharp, well-defined images. The fast aperture maximises light capture, improving clarity when observing at long distances or in poor conditions.

Variable Magnification with Wide Field of View

With a base magnification of 2.5× and up to 20× digital zoom, you can tailor your view for wide-area scanning or detailed identification.

  • Zoom in x2 steps or smoothly

  • Generous 12.5° × 9.4° field of view at base magnification

  • Ideal balance between situational awareness and reach

Built-In Precision Laser Rangefinder (Up to 1000 m)

The integrated laser rangefinder measures distances up to 1000 m with ±1 m accuracy, available in single-shot or continuous scanning modes — perfect for fast, confident distance assessment across open terrain.

AMOLED Display & Picture-in-Picture

A high-contrast VGA AMOLED display delivers smooth visuals with rich colour rendering.

Activate Picture-in-Picture (PiP) to show a magnified x2 or x4 window at the top of the screen while maintaining full situational awareness in the main view — ideal for precise identification.

Advanced Image Processing & Colour Palettes

Enhanced Pulsar algorithms optimise object and background rendering, with:

  • Three signal amplification levels

  • Adjustable brightness and contrast

  • Smoothing filter for long-range viewing

Choose from 8 colour palettes to suit conditions and tasks:

  • White Hot / Black Hot / Red Hot – detection

  • Rainbow / Ultramarine – recognition and identification

  • Red Monochrome / Sepia / Violet – prolonged night observation

Powered by the APS5 rechargeable battery, the Axion 2 XG35 LRF offers up to 7 hours of runtime on a single charge (temperature dependent).

  • Quick-swap battery design

  • USB-C charging or dock charging

  • Display Off mode saves power while keeping the unit ready

  • Instant start-up in around 3 seconds

Order Fulfilment

Some items, as clearly stated on the product page, may be fulfilled directly by our partners or manufacturers. In these cases, your order will be shipped to you straight from the brand’s warehouse. This helps us provide a wider range of specialist equipment and may result in slightly different delivery times.

Returns Policy

If something isn’t right, we’ll always try to help.

  • Unused items in “as new” condition can usually be returned within the statutory cooling-off period
  • Please contact us before sending anything back so we can advise on the safest way
  • For unwanted items, return shipping is your responsibility, and original shipping may be deducted where applicable
  • If a product is faulty or damaged, we’ll arrange repair, replacement or refund in line with your consumer rights — and we’ll cover reasonable return costs

Telescope shipping is expensive, and specialist — avoidable returns really do impact our business, so we always encourage customers to ask questions before buying. We’re here to help you get it right first time.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

Does it come with a warranty?

All our products are UK stock so come with manufacturers warranty

What happens if I don't like it?

We always want you to be happy with your purchase — so if you’re unsure, please ask us first. We’re always happy to give honest advice before you buy.

If the product arrives and you simply decide it isn’t for you, you can usually return it within the cooling-off period — as long as it’s unused, in perfect condition, and returned with all original packaging and accessories.

Because telescopes and optical equipment are large, delicate and expensive to ship, you’ll need to cover the cost of sending it back, and if we originally subsidised delivery, we may deduct our outbound shipping costs from your refund.

We’re a small specialist business, and unnecessary returns genuinely hurt us — so if you’re unsure at all, please talk to us first. We’d rather help you choose the right item than process a return.

How fast is shipping?

We aim to ship in-stock items as quickly as possible.

  • Most in-stock orders dispatch within 1–2 working days
  • Delivery usually takes 1–3 working days after dispatch (UK mainland)
  • Heavier / oversized items and special orders may take a little longer

You’ll receive tracking details as soon as your order is on its way.

Astronomy equipment often requires specialist packing and trusted couriers — we do this to keep your gear safe, not to slow things down. If you need something urgently, just ask and we’ll do our best.
