A
Aperture
The diameter of a telescope's main lens or mirror. Larger apertures collect more light, producing brighter and more detailed views.
Astrophotography
The practice of photographing celestial objects such as the Moon, planets, galaxies and nebulae.
Astronomical Unit (AU)
A unit of distance equal to the average distance between the Earth and the Sun (approximately 150 million km).
Alt-Azimuth Mount
A simple telescope mount that moves up, down, left and right. Ideal for beginners and visual observing.

Barlow Lens

Black Hole

Magnification

Meteor Shower
An event where many meteors appear over a short period as Earth passes through debris left by a comet.
